Tonz "Oil Can" Cowley has always been on the mats at Kimekai MMA right from the start. He has boxed, kickboxed, clinched, grappled, wrestled + studied his jitz.
Now this his journey on the "Path" has thrown up a 2nd knee injury that will most likely limit his next phase. Martial Arts are a life long adventure that asks us many questions of ourselves. The inner strength and calm is connected to our physical being but never limited to it.

We all look forward to helping Tonz along the road as a team to recovery and a stronger future.

61kg Josh "ThunderMouse Aarons" got caught in a triangle choke after executing a big slam double leg takedown vs his young local challenger from the NT.

61kg Charlie "El Guerrero" Alaniz had an absolute cracker of a battle vs Paulie Tozer (the Dancin' Man) -Charlie took all 3 rounds dominating w/ his striking + wrestling in the clinch. Both boys looked like they were in a WAR after the fight. Charlie + Paulie will train together + fight in Dublin,Ireland in 2013.

This gives the fighter the opportunity to drill hand combos while setting up knee & kick strikes.

Plymouth Boys Club Wrestling

Ed & Johnny Salvitti out front of what used to be the Plymouth Boys Club in Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA where I 1st learned to Wrestle at the age of 8 on some old mats thrown on the concrete floor in the basement by the pool tables and an old rattly radiator.

Later Plymouth Carver High School had multiple Old Colony League Champions under Coach Dick Ward. Coach Ward taught us what hard work and determination really meant and how working towards a goal pays off! Kimekai has the spirit of Coach Ward on it's mats live today!

Joey wrestled Wayno in the final Gi + prepped the MuayThai boys w/ a few rds again w/ Wayno.

Lots of spirit and great display of striking by the up + comers! We are very proud of every one. No one gave up or tossed in the towel. That is all we can ask of our students. Many boys moved up in rank last night. Federal Hill Ohana + Sityodtong blood, sweat, and tears right there in Chelsea.

Joey + Wayne also awarded BJJ blue belts by Marco. Fantastic to see the line continue as we have been a Peter de Been school since the start. The 1s-t before the St Kilda academy was even built. Gracie Barra lives + breathes in Melbourne on the mats of Kimekai.

Keep training hard + moving forward and the Martial Arts gifts will be many!

After pounding + drilling on the Territorian most of the rd the always jovial Sky Scraper got caught in a funny scarf submission and tapped. Frankie got up w/ a smile on his face and asked when his next fight was! He loves a scrap.

v Guargantour(WA) tough debut for Bubba. 12 stitches to rubbery lip after a cracker uppercut. Big Boys Play-thats just the way!!

Brillian display of Ranga Rasslin' then on to a top side triangle sub to finish in the 2nd rd after the ref did not understand what "I am TAPPING" meant by the game opponent.

What a debut for Noodles against a strong fit+focussed 16year old boy from the Territory gave us a fantastic striking battle in the cage. Ramen finished w/ a TKO GnP in the 3rd. The Kid from NT will be a force to be reckoned with in the future!

Kim got the Judo toss takedown at the start + held top position-just not enough action then ended up in a scramble + got clipped w/ a knee. It was tough going from there for our Korean brother as the ref called it w/ Kim on wobbly legs at the bell of the 1st. Kim loves MMA + fighting and wants another bash asap. He says -"Please Coach not 70kg- my weight of 65kg-" ...no worries Kim.

Ladies went to WAR in the Cage for the very 1st time in the Northern Territory.

v Paulie Tozer(NT)- Paulie came back in the 3rd winning via RNC in a brilliant display after Josh completely dominating w/ his wrestling + GnP in the 1st 2 rds. Fantastic debut for Joshy "Thunder Mouse" against the experienced Paulie-we love Paulie's dancing entrances- beauty + grace before combative embrace!

Dave Mazany(USA)-Dave won via guillotine 2nd rd.
Vik thanks the whole TEAM that helped him prepare- he was not happy w/ himself but, he promises to come back w/ a "Spartan" battle next outing.

Kimekai Fight Team April 2012

Kimekai well represented @ Peter Hatton's Dandenong promotion- Saturday Night 14 April.

77kg-Nick Patterson v Sam Igor of Sydney. Nick won at the bell of 1st rd via RNC. Excellent return after suffering a loss a month ago.

84kg-Roberto Fernandes v Nick Mann a late fill in as Vik Grujic had a tough training injury the week before the fight. Nick Mann dominated w/ a strong Thai clinch finishing Roberto w/ a knee right down the middle to the face.

70kg-Anthony"Oil Can" Cowley v Jake Mathews. This was fight of the night and could have gone either way. Anthony came away w/ the split Dec. Jake showed excellent skill + energy - Anthony would just not be submitted and escaped all of Jake's attempted. Fast paced and great fun to be an MMA fan on Sat Night!!

60kg-The very 1st Female sanctioned MMA fight in Victoria had Meg Gallagher v Sarah Morrison of Sydney. Good battle that had Meg + Sarah display a great level of skill + spirit! Fantastic to witness Mixed Martial Arts history in the state of Victoria! Meg ended the fight taking Sarah's back and some great GnP at the bell. Meg won the fight for the VICs. Unam Dec.

During the day Daniel Browne + Paul Morello had amateur fights and showed the spirit of warriors. Dan won w/ a slam + Paul lost a tough 1 getting caught in a guillotine at the end of rd3 after dominating the wrestling range.

We are very proud of everybody who brought the Bushido Spirit to the ring + cage.
From local shows in Melbourne, country shows in Shep, Numurkah+ Warragul, Interstate shows in Tassie, NSW + the very 1st Cage show up in Darwin. Then all the way over to camp in Temecula, California onto Chicago, Illinois USA vs Team USA. Fantastic work boys + girls.

Kimekai Fight Team will represent once again all 2012.

There is already plans in the works for a Boston, Massachusetts show in July. We are hoping to bring up to 5 fighters over. Some training w/ our Sityodtong Brothers + Sisters and maybe a stop in California again.
There is a suprise brewing w/ our Bro John Salvitti we will reveal once he gets back from Hong Kong where he is working w/ Donnie Yen. Exciting times!!
