THE KIMEKAI FAMILY IS SAD TO SAY GOOD BYE TO OUR DEAR BRASILIAN JIU JITSU INSTRUCTOR VLAD. HE PASSED AWAY ON THE WEEKEND.
VLAD IS ON THE FARTHEST RIGHT IN HIS BELOVED GI. EVEN WHILE TRAINING W/ THE GREAT STRIKER & UFC CHAMP- MAURICE SMITH, VLAD PROUDLY WORE HIS BJJ COLOURS.
THERE IS NOW A HUGE VOID ON OUR DOJO MAT THAT WE WILL WORK HARDER THAN EVER TO FILL EVERY TIME WE ROLL. HIS ANALYTIC APPROACH, ATTENTION TO DETAIL & PASSION FOR THE GRACIE WAY WILL LIVE ON IN US AS STUDENTS. HE WAS A GIFTED MARTIAL ARTIST, ATHLETE & COACH. WE WILL MISS HIM DEARLY.
VLAD WAS BORN IN BELARUS OF RUSSIAN HERITAGE AND EARNED AN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS DEGREE IN WISCONSIN, USA. WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF SHARING SOME LONG CONVERSATIONS WITH HIM ABOUT MARTIAL ARTS, THE GRACIE WAY & RAISING A FAMILY IN AUSTRALIA. HIS UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE IS WHAT WE WILL MISS THE MOST.

Disbelief and shock in your passing brother. A massive hole has been left behind by a man who made such a great impression on our development and progression in BJJ. You were great instructor, highly respected and admired.
A good friend.
We love and miss you Vlad. R.I.P.
Our Vlad couldn't be here, because he lives so far away. But I know he wishes he could be, since this is his training day.
And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know. All about my team mate Vlad.
He always told me stories, he taught me to arm bar right. He surprised me with jokes at the right time in my life.
We shared stares just as we began to train and smile and take each other’s hand as we said goodbye.
Our team mate Vlad will always be with us, even though we're apart. I know because he told me, he'll forever be in our hearts."
Miss you Vlad take care brother your team mate Wayne R.
